Areri’s Proven and Tested DIY’s and Remedies ^_^

I tend to be very low end. Like, I own a very cheap but reliable Android phone, which costs 1/4 of a new Galaxy smartphone. I Like bargains and thrift shops. I have been looking for a dress for a relative’s wedding in December and I passed by this Ukay-Ukay (second-hand clothes store in the Philippines) and I found a frock for P100.00 which was about $2.00. Problem solved. All I need to take care of is my husband’s outfit and Shinchan’s. Ali will need a polo shirt and Shinchan needs a cute and well-fitting barong! I love improvising because sometimes, it’s either I don’t have money for it or I am just plain lazy to go out to buy something.

I like using calamansi or lemon as my deodorant. Girls like to whiten or to tone their underarms and ads can be deceiving like, in 7 days, you’ll get whiter underarms. They don’t always happen. I stopped my vanity for that though. But I always run out of Rexona Deo-White and thank God, the kitchen always have a few calamansis. One piece of it lasts for a week if you fridge it. Woila, instant deodorant. Trust me, it works. I don’t smell myself sweaty. Another tip: If you go out more, try Calamansi with tawas potassium alum).

I also run out of my favorite lipstick every once in a while. What I keep is almost unused eye-shadow box. I use the pinkish one and add a dab petroleum jelly on it. I just hope that’s not bad.
For my gift wrapping papers, I just made origami boxes using colorful magazine hard covers. My sister in law also taught me how to make paper bags. I made a bunch using black and white magazine pages and some colorful ones. So when I buy my gifts, I can just slid them in and just tape them. No need to buy gift wrappers. It’s personal and environment friendly.

Hmm.. I can’t think of anything else. But those help me a lot.

MyMRT

The MRT is definitely part of my life as a call center agent in Makati. From North EDSA to Makati this is the fastest ride you can get.

But aside from that being the fast way to get around, there a few things which you might enjoy on the train. Let me point mine ^_^

*Cute people- What a great way to spend the long trip is to boy-watch and girl-watch. There are a lot of cute people on the train. If you are girl and LIKE girls period, you'd think the first coach is heaven. Or you're just a gal who appreciates pretty faces. Pretty girls and cute boys both at the next coasters. I definitely enjoy that. And then it turns out that guy is gay... Nothing's wrong with that, though. Just keep the ogling minimal. If can't be prevented, wear sunglasses.

* Fashion- MRT covers all type people- poor, rich, old, professionals, freeloaders.. Some are call center people who wear fab clothes. There are teens who dress kawaii. You'd soon can't help but pick up some fashion tips before you drop off at your stop.

*Billboards- What a great distraction. Wouldn't it be dreadful, if there weren't billboards along EDSA? I like the Bench/ ones especially their Bench Universe ads at the Guadalupe Bridge. And I can't wait to get my hands on my 13th month pay so I can buy those new smartphones and electronics. Man, that Internet TV is to die for.

*Old school Chivalry- Old fashion values haven't died. It is still admirable that people can still be courteous even in the chaotic world of the MRT. Sure there would be some asses, and pickpockets, but there would still be knights. Like a young girl or boy offering her/his seat to an elderly person. A guy, giving his seat to a mother, who has a hard time carrying her baby and her big diary bag. Or, a girl returning an item to another girl who accidentally dropped it.

Oops, gotta go. That'll be my stop!

My Favorite Android Applications

I own a low-end Android 2.2 smartphone, TS1 from MyPhone, since that is the only one I could afford. I had it for about a year now. I always love it. It does have some low downs, but because it's an Android, I got to download apps to "improvise" the non-working permanent apps. Let me give you a list of my faves.

1. Camera360- my fixed Android cam has error that says "please insert sd card." I had never been able to re

cord and take pictures for months now with it. Lucky, I downloaded Camera360. What so great about it is that it has "Magic Skin" function which is like instant Photoshop! No need for retouch!

2. Combo YouTube Mobile and Freedi YouTube Downloader- This duo should always be together. The mobile YouTube allows you to access the site plus the comments and recommended videos. Amazingly, they work both on wifi and 3g. Even with edge and GPRS! And with Freedi you can download clips as much as 24 minutes!

3. PicsArt- Literally, you can edit pictures on the go. Collage, texted pics and styles! Then post auto to Facebook!

4. PDF e-book reader- Download some e-books and read them while being anywhere- on the mrt, while waiting for your date at the mall. I like to read it before I sleep.

Finally,

5. Officesuite- I am starting my blog and I can't upload my work straight from the phone. What if an idea comes up? I would just write it on my mobile Word and upload it on my desktop later. I had a social network blog before, and I use my Android Note to save files. But since I can only upload my writing to the desktop, and Note don't save, this comes handy.

Kpop to Epop: Best Kpop English Covers

For a Kpop and Jpop aficionado like me, I appreciate the songs even though I really don't understand them. Music is a universal language, is what they say. But wouldn't it be fun if we can actually understand them. Lucky for us if a group or a soloist would release an English version of their hits like Girls' Generation and 2ne1-for "The Boys" and "Can't Nobody" respectively. Taeyang from Bigbang also released an English version for his "Wedding Dress." But if they won't seem to release one, we rely to other sources. On YouTube, there are a lot of awesome Kpop English Cover artists. Most of them have their own YouTube channels and loyal followers. Also, don't forget to "LIKE" them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter! One of the best Kpop cover artists is Tommy C. He sung an English version for "Wedding Dress." He usually does BigBang songs. He sings about drifting away from his love. Even though they are apart, he'd still be there. He sounds TaeYang. He actually became a recording artist himself. Good for him. Take that Justin Bieber! MoA, a Scandinavian artist who covers WonderGirls, 2ne1 Namie Amuro etc. Somehow she went awol due to a infringement issue and so I read. CALEB does great male Utada covers. Canadian Yabisi is one of the good coverers. Most of her works sound so professional to think she is just a teen. She got some good gadgets there. I like her "I Love You" cover. Not only does she sound like 2NE1, her lyrics have a feel how it should be! Try JD Relic. Another BigBang cover artist. His Blue cover is as good as the original. Great cover. But, his Fantastic Baby, not really. So go ahead check Youtube so you'll enjoy Kpop and Jpop more ^_^
